Make Your Plans

It's up to you to make your plans - and then pray, pray, pray for direction and guidance! God will lead you, but it is up to you to pursue what He has ....

It is that time of year again! The time where a proactive person selects their planner for the upcoming year.

I would love to say where “I” select my planner for the upcoming year – as this is an excellent time to get the best variety and most companies have released their new designs – but alas, I really shouldn’t lie! Two years ago, when I first shared planners that would be pretty and useful, I published the blog post and promptly forgot to order one.

As my family and I were enjoying the holidays leading up to New Years, I realized I had forgotten to order my planner. Knowing that I already had shared some lovely planners on the blog, I knew it would be easy to choose one of them!

Within the next day or so, I referred to the blog post and confidently opened the first link. ‘Sold Out’ the page said. I was surprised, though not discouraged – I had several more to choose from! As I clicked through to each of the subsequent planners, I was startled to find that each one of them was sold out. Not a good surprise!

Here I was the one who had found and shared them and now I couldn’t even order one! How disappointing (though not surprising) to find that planners and calendars sell out! I finally decided on a white planner with gold edging. Quite pretty, though not my first (second, third, or fourth!) choice.

Come this time last year, I was determined to get my planner ordered in a much more timely manner! And I did! I ordered a pretty pineapple planner with “Be Sweet” on the cover.

2019 Planners

What type of planner am I considering this year? Well, I am excited to share that Emily Ley of Simplified Planner has teamed up with At-A-Glance to make affordable fashion planners! (PS. I have never heard of a “fashion planner” before, have you?!)

I found a few different prints on Amazon and they are quite pretty! I’ve never bought a Simplified Planner before, but I have considered it! Now that they are a bit more affordable with At-A-Glance, I just might have to try one!

On the other hand, I might have to stick with a Bloom Planner (also available on Amazon)! I do so enjoy the encouraging quotes and reminders that are throughout the pages! The format and layout is simple and useful too!

Make Your Plans

I hope my sharing how I use a planner helps inspire you in your use of one! I certainly don’t expect you to copy how I use it, I simply want to inspire you all with creativity so that your planner can be an effective tool to help propel you forward into what God has for you! And that brings up a lovely story!

A lady recently shared that she was really practicing giving her days to God and not being frustrated if things didn’t work out. But she realized that this didn’t mean she had to be passive! She didn’t have to get up each morning and throw all her plans away and see where the day took her.

Instead, she made her plans, her schedule, her goals and did her best to accomplish these tasks. And when things didn’t work out or interruptions occurred, she handled them gracefully knowing that God was the ultimate orchestrator of her days! She knew what was on her heart to accomplish and she worked at it!

The Bible says to “Commit your works to the Lord, and He will establish your plans.” And I love that – you do your best to pursue what He has set in your heart and then He directs you which way to go!

So make your plans, but also remain graceful in realizing that it will take patience and faithfulness to be all that you can be! And most of all, do not let momentary setbacks cause you to lose your focus on the beautiful things God has promised you!

I hope this post has encouraged and inspired you! I’d love it if you shared your thoughts with me – your input truly encourages me!

Until Next Time!

Hope.

  1. I think it is very important to be flexible with plans because I can guarantee you don’t know what is going to happen in your day. For instance: you don’t know if you are going to get sick. You don’t know if your father is going to break his finger. You don’t know if you are going to (you fill in the blank). God has orchestrated your life and you can’t change that! No matter how hard you try. That is something it took me a while to learn. I had a really hard struggle with flexibility a year ago. So now I plan my day and always plan for extra interuptions and distractions. That’s life; more over that is your life and you can’t change that.

    1. Flexibility is certainly key!! It helps us maintain our cheerfulness, doesn’t it?!
