Charlie Kirk was a remarkable guy. His faith, understanding and grasp of Scripture was inspiring. I appreciated listening to his level-headed take on world events. I enjoyed his sense of humor. His assassination was heart-breaking, so wrong, and incredibly evil. To rob someone of their life because you don’t agree with what they say is despicable.
Charlie had a heart for the young people. To help guide them through their easily influenceable years and help set them on a path of living for God and fighting for the truth. I have learned so much listening to his shows and debates at school campuses. And I will continue to learn, because he did an impressive amount of work, and I’ve only barely scratched the surface.
What the enemy plans for evil, God can use for good. May we stand up a little taller, be a bit more patient and persuasive talking with those who disagree with us, and be bold and courageous in our work for the Lord. That’s what Charlie would want.
Bold and Courageous
Let me encourage you not to let the enemy win. Someone mentioned things like this make them scared to speak up. I’m not encouraging waving red flags at bulls, but don’t let this have a negative influence on your life. God knows exactly where He has you and He holds you in the palm of His hand.
Christianity is not and was never meant to be a watered down faith. Read the Bible and do your research and you will see time and time again the importance of standing strong and courageously for God. Fear is the voice that tells you to quiet down, shut up and keep your faith to yourself. Fear is one of the most powerful things in this world. But there’s one thing that is even stronger than fear: faith. Faith holds steady, doesn’t back down, and holds the line knowing that God’s got the details.
All that fear needs to win is our silence. It is time to step up boldly, because enough is enough. We’ve been quiet too long. That’s not true Christianity. That’s playing it safe, and safe doesn’t win the battle against evil.
Pray for Our Men
One of the many things I appreciated about Charlie is that he encouraged traditional gender roles. Men as leaders, women as helpers. He led by example and was an amazing leader and example to boys and men across the nation. And Erika is a beautiful representation of a Christian wife.
People seem to think women are weak with traditional gender roles, but I think you’d agree there is absolutely nothing weak about what Erika is walking through right now. Her faith is being tested in the most cruel, challenging, and unbelievable of ways and she is proving herself a good and faithful servant of God. Just like her husband did. Charlie chose his wife well, he would be so proud of her.
Let’s pray for our men and our boys to step up, to cast aside comfort and laziness, to put on the full armor of God and be the men God has called them to be. Women can’t fill the role God created for men, but we can pray and believe for such men to have a fire lit in them, to have a clear decisiveness as to what God needs from them, and a comradery amongst each to hold a higher standard for God and country.
A Remarkable Example
Charlie’s life set a remarkable example for Americans and Christians across the nation. What an honor and privilege to have known of his efforts and patriotism in real time. As we mourn this horrific loss, let’s remember that God is in control, that He has the details, and that all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.
I’m not making light of something so terrible, but rather reminding us that God can use it for good. It’s terrible for us, on this side of it. But where many fear death, I think we can have confidence that Charlie is now with his Lord and Savior! We have the hope and the expectation of being together again. And I hope in heaven we have some form of recall, because I want to thank Charlie personally for the amazingly courageous and excellent example he was.
In the history of the world, the Bible and history books and probably even in your own life, hard and difficult things have always been the prelude to something incredible and amazing. Let’s make sure our faith is louder and stronger than the fears that try to invade our mind. Fear is from the enemy, faith and courage and strength are from God.
God bless and comfort each one of you. Keep Erika, the children, and Charlie’s family and team in your prayers.
Until Next Time,
Hope.
PS. Not the best picture, but this is from when my father and I went to see Charlie earlier this year. I’ll forever be grateful we went!
