New Adventures

Is there anything quite like the joy of new adventures? Life can become routine and repetitive, but when we discover and create new adventures it opens a whole new world of delight!

Don’t tell me you don’t have opportunity for this in your life. With that kind of attitude adventures are certainly harder to find. But instead of letting ourselves feel left out or forgotten, it is up to each one of us to discover these adventures in our own life.

And perhaps we should take it one step further and help another discover delightful moments in their life too! That’s what friends do for each other!

Romanticize Your Life

Are you familiar with the idea of romanticizing your life? Essentially it is just a fancy reminder not to take the little things for granted. Instead of racing through the day, you take time to pause and appreciate the little things. Create time to get cozy with your coffee cup in the morning, instead of racing to get ready.

Romanticize your drive to work by praising God along the way for His beautiful creation – majestic trees, beautiful fields, artistic clouds in the sky. I thank Him all the time for a comfortable vehicle to ride to work in. New adventures and new appreciation for life is found on the other side of gratitude!

Instead of taking your regular route to and from work, explore other routes and dub one of them your special route. Take that route spontaneously as a way to celebrate the end of the work week or just a way to treat yourself and make your day a little extra special. There is a road I like to take home from time to time, though it takes a bit longer. The setting and the fields and the houses are the kind I dream of having someday. Taking that road reminds me to appreciate where God has me and dream about what’s ahead.

Romanticize little things in your life. Your makeup routine, your skincare routine, styling your hair, making your food. Leave behind fast and furious in favor of living life well. You will find unbelievable joy when you make the conscious effort to appreciate your life and those around you.

Don’t Get Left Behind

Sometimes it can seem as if new adventures find others around us, but not ourselves personally. It is very important not to get stuck in this mindset. To a large extent, life is what we make of it. If we choose to discover new adventures, we’ll find them. But on the other hand if we are victims in our own mind, that will sour our perception of life.

God didn’t create us to feel sorry for ourselves, but rather to love others and to live abundantly! We might have moments of pause, I really think everyone does. But it is essential that we don’t get run down and discouraged! Remember that brighter days are ahead and seek to find the beauty in the here and now. Keep God first, eat well, get your sleep, drink plenty of water, and you’ll feel like a new person in no time!

New adventures are what you make of them. They can be plentiful and delightful if you have the eyes to see them and the mindset to appreciate them. Despite the struggles that come and go, God hasn’t forgotten you or destined you to a boring life. You are chosen, prized, and a precious thing to Him! Now live a life that believes and appreciates what God has called you to!

Discover A Hobby

Hobbies are delightful things – basically play for adults! Choose a hobby and then work towards becoming excellent at it. Perhaps it is baking, sewing, handwriting, candle making, knitting, gardening, tennis, drawing, etc. I can’t help but thinking adding a hobby, a bit of whimsy really, to your life will help lighten your mood. Things become a little less gray and looming.

I’ve recently begun a bit of gardening. Really I just planted some flower seeds and I’ve been delighting in seeing their green shoots come popping out of the soil. Next up, I need to do a bit of trimming and maintenance as I believe some weeds are coming up with the marigolds and sunflowers. Little by little progress, but it is a new adventure for me and I am thoroughly enjoying it.

I also discovered something about myself that astonished me: I love the idea of plants and crops and working outside! Don’t get me wrong – with a healthy amount of water and a handy umbrella for shade so that I don’t expire from heat stroke in this hot South Carolina sun. But I sincerely enjoy all things green and abundant, beautiful blooms, healthy bushes, and watering these plants to encourage them. I need to learn more about keeping pests away, but I’ll learn along and along.

You too should find a hobby that interests you! It doesn’t have to be perfectly scheduled or committed to buying an entire set of volumes on the subject. Just something to get you started on a delightful new adventure that helps you better appreciate where God has you!

Appreciate Where God Has You

I really think this is what it all boils down to – better appreciating where God has you. I think sometimes I get so locked in to work, sleep, repeat, that I lose a bit of my joie de vivre. So I’m working towards scaling back a bit on work so that I can better appreciate where God has placed me. I want my life to be a delightful representation of Him! The goal of discovering new adventures is to help refresh what I do!

Gratitude and appreciation will take us so much further in life than grumpiness and moodiness. New adventures don’t find the cranky. But they are sitting there just waiting to be discovered by those who appreciate where God has them! Consider where God has you and take some time to ponder and discover interests and hobbies that are waiting for you!

Life is so much what we make of it – let’s fill it with new adventures and delight in our Lord!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
