Our Daily Bread

God provides for us faithfully. Food, clothing, and shelter – our daily bread, as it were. And yet, though His faithfulness has never failed, our faith wavers. We wonder how we’ll get by, how things will be taken care of, how we’ll ever get done with what we need to do.

We may not know what the future holds, but we do know Who holds it. God is remarkable in bringing things together, organizing everything, and blessing us with abundance. We may not see how things could possibly add up, but we should never underestimate the God factor!

Each and every day, we should praise God for His daily provision and guidance. Asking Him for our daily bread builds our confidence and trust in Him. Whether it is finances, rest, work, or any other thing, He will make a way for His people. Relying on Him doesn’t make us weak, but rather secure in our faith, knowing that He will always make a way for us!

Down To The Wire

It strikes me so often that I see God show up just in time. We’re down to the wire and something’s got to give. Each and every time this is a powerful reminder to me to surrender any control I think I have of a situation to Him and pray to have eyes to see. Sometimes I feel this is a weakness of mine – if I had planned or prepared better maybe I wouldn’t find myself in such a needy situation.

But no! God literally made me to need Him every day. Our daily bread, our daily needs or situations that only God can orchestrate, were specifically created to draw us closer to Him! To keep our hearts humble and in submission, but also to keep us hopeful and grateful! Where would we be without the perfect love of our Savior?

I am reminded of this reality so often. With two shops and multiple part time employees, one leaving or adjusting her hours throws the whole schedule. And since there are two shops, I can’t simply cover every hole in the schedule because I can’t be in more than one place at a time! I find myself getting nervous or anxious about filling the schedule. Where do I find another employee that is a good fit? How do I train her when the schedule is already underfilled? Is it a lack of my organization that brings me here again? This isn’t my favorite scenario to repeat.

God Always Provides

And yet, God always provides! And it’s not like He provides in a barely-scraping-by way, but generously, with more than I can think or imagine! That’s Who God is! And each time this scenario repeats, I am learning better and better not to be down on myself, but rather praise God for providing our daily bread!

I can’t help but think I may not be the only one who struggles here. And I don’t share this to cause you to stumble yourself, but I hear these concerns go by, so I want to encourage you! I find that I have a tendency to question things constantly, especially when I find myself desperately needing daily bread yet again. And yet, this isn’t a bad thing! This is quite literally how we were designed! We need to quit translating our need of God as a bad thing. Don’t think yourself a failure at what you do because you need God!

What if, instead of feeling inferior, we let this need of daily bread fuel our faith? Instead of questioning everything, have some confidence that God has you where He needs you? What sort of boost would that give you? The enemy brings questions and confusion. God brings courage and confidence. I want to make the shift to be steadfast in the path I believe I am called to and wait securely to see how God will provide. Because He always does!

Our Daily Bread

Would it perhaps be appropriate to look at our daily bread as our daily grace? Because I truly think the principles still apply. We only have grace for the day and we are guaranteed grace for each day, if we look to God for it. God loves us so much that He doesn’t put us in situations we can’t handle – if we’ll tap into His grace. It is truly fascinating to learn more and more about God and the relationship He wants with each of us individually.

And I think that’s why things happen in our life, to direct our attention back to Him always. To draw us closer, to grow us, to help us become who He has designed us to be. His love for us is unfathomable, but I want to understand it better and better. It is so incredibly humbling to consider that He values us so highly. What an honor! And what a responsibility we have to serve and praise Him well!

The more you realize Who God is, the less casually you can take your relationship with Him. Needing our daily bread isn’t a character flaw, but rather an incredible tool to help us grow closer to Him! May this new perspective take your relationship with Him next level!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
