The Power of Positive Thinking

The power of positive thinking must be carefully considered and remembered! Too often we get caught in trying to analyze life from a realistic point of view.

But as Christians what we must realize is that we serve an amazing God, a God that is not limited by what our human minds can contrive!

And that’s what is so important to remember as human beings. That God has a plan beyond our wildest dreams and expectations! So it is our duty to remain positive and hopeful, and to anticipate an incredible story!

The Power of Positive Thinking

The power of positive thinking comes back to the realization that we don’t have to figure everything out. God’s plans are beyond our wildest imagination, and we must remain optimistic and flexible to see how He will bring things together for us!

But instead of forecasting doom and gloom, we have the freedom and opportunity to anticipate good and wonderful things! Never underestimate what God can do when you remain faithful and obedient through a trying time. When you realize the reality of the Scripture that all things work together for our good, you can rest in the knowledge that when you lean into your relationship with God and give Him your best, everything is for your good!

And what better way to analyze the things around you. Instead of having a victim mentality, a poor me and everything-is-out-to-get-me mindset, you can have the mindset of a conqueror! Because the truth of the matter is there are no limits once you consider the God factor! Praise Him for His provision, praise Him for His mercy, praise Him for the way He always makes a way!

It’s not our job to figure things out but rather to remain faithful and obedient, trusting that God has the details. Because He does! And He has a perfect track record!

Reframe the Situation

I have found myself referencing a new perspective by saying that I need to reframe a situation. As do most people, I have areas that have a tendency to annoy or irritate me. Trigger me, if you would. And when I find myself reacting in this way, I rarely think it’s rational. So I try to take a step back and reconsider my automatic response. I want to reframe the situation from God’s perspective rather than from my limited reactive view.

Wisdom is defined as seeing things from God’s perspective, and that’s what I want to do. To surrender my self-centered and limited perspective and see things as God does! I want to reframe situations in order to better appreciate the way God works in my life. And I would encourage you to do the same! Take a step back and be willing to let go of some concerns that hit close to home.

As women, it is so important to be soft and surrendered, to rest in the knowledge that God has things well in hand. And positive thinking plays a key role here! Instead of feeling reactive or trying to control situations, we can know that God will direct our steps.

Yes, He may have some action for us to take – but I’ll share something interesting: often in these situations where I am reactive and have to step back to reframe the situation, I find the action God needs me to take is to work on myself. To work on my attitude, my heart, my perception. And then to make it even more interesting, I often find my source of irritation can be a mirror of how I am treating another. Not on purpose, of course, but it does help to keep me humble.

So just a friendly encouragement to not grow impatient but rather reframe the situation and consider what God is teaching you through it!

Constantly Renew Your Mind

We must constantly guard our thoughts and renew our minds. The world is noisy and distracting. God’s Word is peaceful and comforting. It is vital that we choose what gets our focus rather than just reacting to what is loudest.

Positive thinking begins with filling our minds with God’s Word and His care of His people. We have the opportunity to choose to think on all the ways God shows up. To rest in the knowledge that He has all things well in hand. And like I shared above, He works all things for the good of those who love Him!

As a book I have been reading phrases it, we need to have our “nevertheless” ready. When circumstances seem heavy and against you, instead of just bemoaning the facts, examine them and reframe the situation. Bills may add up, nevertheless God promises His people food, clothing, and shelter – He is a God of abundance! The doctor might have a less than desirable report, nevertheless the Power that made the body heals the body – and He’s not limited to human parameters!

No matter the circumstances, get your nevertheless ready!

God’s Got The Details

Learn to add a positive twist, a positive perspective, a positive expectation to every bit of your life. It’s not our job to stifle our enthusiasm or rain on somebody’s parade. But rather we are called to encourage one another, to be filled with hope, and to live in faith that God’s got the details. It’s not up to us to figure out the how, simply to be faithful and obedient.

Guard your thoughts, expect the best, and watch what God will do!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
