A dangerous prayer was shared with me, and I in turn want to share it with you. It may unsettle things, it may change things, but in the end, it will take you further than you can imagine.
Incredible things don’t happen this side of playing it safe. But if we can surrender our perception of security to God and trust Him to guide and help us, great things can happen! So consider this dangerous prayer and think of the potential impact it could have on your everyday life.
Dear God, Remove the fear that keeps me small and replace it with faith that reminds me I’m made for more. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Fear Holds Us Back
Fear is incredibly deceptive. It can have us thinking we’re playing it safe when in fact we are simply failing to reach our potential. Learning to recognize fear for what it is is imperative! Did you know that fear is technically negative faith? We must learn to shift our fearful perception and refocus on a positive outcome and trust that God has things well in hand.
I love how this dangerous prayer asks God to remove the fear that keeps us small. Remove the fear that says how can I, this won’t work out, something bad might happen, etc. Fear is terribly limiting. It has us focusing on our own perceived lack of ability and it removes the God factor. The truth of the matter is God is our source of everything. He equips us and makes us well able. We must focus on His abundance and generous provision and trust that He is leading us in a beautiful way!
A key part of the prayer is not only removing the fear, but replacing it with faith that reminds us that we are made for more! We must grow, cultivate, and believe that God works all things for our good. If we will truly believe that simple fact, it takes so much worry and fear out of the equation! True things might not add up just like we think they will – in fact, more than likely they won’t. But God has a way of bringing things together in ways far and beyond the best things we can perceive!
Build Up Your Faith
It is so important that we work daily to build up our faith. To pray this dangerous prayer over the smallest details of our lives.
As I have been recovering from a broken leg, I started to worry that I wouldn’t be healing as quickly as necessary. As I caught myself worrying, I remembered this prayer and I surrendered my fears to God, and stepped into a peaceful faith that He will direct me right where He needs me. Lord, I fear not being able to walk in this timeline I’ve been anticipating. Please take this fear and replace it with the knowledge that you know when you need me to walk and when to rest and heal. Give me patience and help me surrender to your perfect plan…
Going from having a broken leg and not being able to move on my own, to now being more independent again – though it is still slow going – is an interesting path. I have to continually choose faith and not give in to impatience and frustration. Not because I haven’t come a far way or because I haven’t seen God do incredible things, but I think more because things seem so much more different than they were. But that’s not a bad thing, simply different from the perception I had! Day by day, God is so faithful, He gives me my daily bread and provides for me in abundant ways!
You Are Made For More
You are made for more than to worry about things – big and little – in life. Worry is having a negative faith. We must learn to turn that around and have a positive, secure, peaceful faith.
Here’s an interesting fear that I imagine you might have in response to the dangerous prayer – what if asking God to remove the things that keep me small really upsets the rhythm of my family and my life? I would argue if you fear this, than perhaps you really need God’s help weeding through things. Not because it will be easy or we want conflict and discomfort, but because we want to be on a path that we can better serve God!
I’m always pondering and asking God what He needs me to remove from my life. I ask Him to renew my mind and my thoughts and remove the thoughts that keep me small. My prayer is that any agreement I have unwittingly made with the enemy is broken and forgotten. We are made for so much more than to live a minimal, average life. God has a specific purpose for each of His people and it is our duty to discover it and be all we can be for Him and His kingdom!
Average people live average lives. Complacency is the enemy of progress. A dangerous prayer helps you break past surface level Christianity. God didn’t create us to be complacent or average. So fight the fear that would seek to hold you back and replace it with faith that keeps your focus on God!
Until Next Time!
Hope.
