Upgrade Your Life

Perhaps there are some areas in your life that over time have become stale. BlasĂ©, even. You don’t have to settle there, settling isn’t a virtue. Maybe it’s time to upgrade your life!

Doing things the way you’ve always done them isn’t a good argument. There are seasons in life and it is important to recognize when a season of growth has come. We aren’t created to stay in certain levels. To resist change because this is the way things have always been.

As children of the most high God, we are made for more. For promotion, for blessing, for increase, for more than enough! Is the life you are living in agreement with God’s blessings? Are you making room to grow and flourish? We must learn to reject the slave mentality that scrapes by and try to keep us small and learn to step into who God is creating us to be.

Doing Something New

For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland. – Isaiah 43:19

A key part of beginning to upgrade your life is believing that God is able to take you to the next level. Believing that there is more to life and that you are made to do things beyond your imagination for God. Settling and growing stagnant in life doesn’t honor God well. It’s not a matter of waiting forever for a road to Damascus moment, but rather knocking on doors – investigating opportunities – to see what path God has for you.

Praying and studying His word will help determine the path you pursue. God isn’t trying to trick you into anything, that’s not how He works. He may direct you through ideas, through interests, or even through another’s needs. As you pursue the path He has for you, ask for His wisdom and for Him to direct your steps. He is incredible about directing us if we will ask Him!

Don’t be afraid to outgrow the old. Sometimes I think we get in the mindset that we will reach a certain “level” in life and then we’ll stay there, not needing to grow further. But this is never the case! So long as we are alive, we have more work to do for God. Be willing to try new things, abandon old things, and pursue the unknown. I almost think God does some of His most incredible work when we have the courage to pursue Him outside of our comfort zone.

Comfort zones keep you small. Courage and faith are where you can truly begin to upgrade your life.

Abundance Mindset

Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full – pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back. – Luke 6:38

Perhaps another way to upgrade your life is to get better at giving. Giving your time, your effort, your prayers, your encouragement, etc, to others. Comfort says don’t change a thing. Abundance says you are made for more, look past your comfort and show up well.

I believe as God’s people we have the blessing of expecting abundance when we pursue Him and seek to live for Him. So as I work and live, I ask Him to direct my steps, to train my heart, and to bless the efforts I make. I pray for and expect abundance. He didn’t put me on this earth as His representative for a limited time to play small. No rather, He gave me a heart with big dreams that I can’t make happen on my own, so that I would need to lean further into Him to get to see Him bring them together on my behalf!

But the thing is, I have to believe that He is able. I have to believe that I have a special assignment from Him. If I don’t, I coast through life reacting to circumstances around me. But when I believe that His plans are higher than random life circumstances and that He will bless me when I live for Him, then I can be confident that if I just keep getting back up when I fall, He will take me further than I can possibly imagine.

And this isn’t about what I can get out of it. On the contrary, it is about what all I can accomplish for His kingdom. As the saying goes, I would rather ask for a lot {and have more of an impact for God} and get part of it, then ask for a little and get all of it. I believe the opportunity to choose to upgrade your life is about enjoying the beauty God blesses us with and growing in Him, rather than holding ourselves back due to a starvation mindset.

We Are Made For More

The simple truth is that God’s people are made for more. We are made for a Kingdom that will not be destroyed, designed to serve our Lord and Savior all the days. And when you spell it out like that, I think choosing to upgrade your life is more of a duty, a calling because of Whose you are, rather than an optional choice based on how much effort you want to put in.

And that’s something I learned long ago – don’t wait on your feelings to line up with what you need to do. On a simple level, much like you can’t wait to get into shape until you feel like it, you can’t wait to choose the work to step into who God is calling you to be. God is omnipotent, perfect, wonderful, above all, etc, and His people are His children. Our heritage is to pursue our inheritance, not coast through life.

If you’ve ever been stuck in a rut about living small to be more holy, please hear this: you are made for more. We are given two commands by Christ: love the Lord your God, and your neighbor as yourself. Nothing about God is small. Even His most delicate, minute creation has an infinite design that we keep discovering more depth to! God is a God of abundance, of order, of increase, of incredible design, of thoughtful order, etc. Nothing about God is average or mediocre.

Invite Him to lead you in every area of your life. Ask Him to weed out paths or people He doesn’t want you to pursue. Pray for courage to take the action He prompts you to take. Ask for wisdom in the details. Growing closer to God and rejecting the lies of the enemy is the best way to upgrade your life. You never lose when you pursue God.

Until Next Time!

Hope.
