Fresh Enthusiasm blog

Fresh Enthusiasm

Fresh enthusiasm can be so life-giving! Be it in your habits, job, hobbies, routines, etc, a reset and refresh brings new energy to the situations you find yourself in. It is essential that we make the most of where God has us, so it is good to step back and consider what we do and how it affects our attitude.

This can be as grandiose or subtle as you need it to be. It might be refreshing your room decor or picking a new devotional, creating new routines or eliminating the unnecessary. One thing I can almost guarantee is that it is going to look different than anybody else’s refresh.

So pause for just a moment and consider how you can step into a better version of whom God has called you to be.

Education

Fresh enthusiasm begins with a desire to cultivate a gratitude for where God has you. Perhaps life has become too routine and you want to bring a new energy to it. Continuing your education can really inspire a gratitude for what you do. You can pick something inline with what you are already doing or go a little crazy and pick something entirely new and different!

The goal is to fuel a new enthusiasm for where God has you. Sometimes when things get too routine they can seem dull and lack the life that you hoped to live. But when you pause for a moment, consider how you might like to enhance where you are, a world of possibility opens up!

Education can be found through a variety of options – online courses, books, youtube videos, etc. A formal education often comes with extra baggage, so do your research before you jump in! Personally, I prefer the freedom of choosing my source(s) of information rather than being in a regimented college setting.

Hobbies

Hobbies are a beautiful way to embellish our lives. Whether they are searched out or just a natural inclination, they can add so much to life! Look around and consider what hobbies you might already lean towards. Perhaps it is baking or candle-making or playing an instrument. Are you enjoying it and allowing it to be the source of joy that it could be? Or has it become a habit and a routine that needs refreshing?

Fresh enthusiasm reminds you that instead of just going through your music book, you can learn a song that is dear to you. Or instead of just baking basics, you can try something adventurous and unexpected.

I have come to realize that life is far more exciting and enjoyable when I introduce the unexpected! A new hobby, a new book, a drive simply for fun, etc. Don’t get so busy with the business of life that you forget to enjoy where God has you.

Relationships

Relationships – perhaps one of the most complex things in this life. Our relationship with God, others, ourselves – each holds challenges and delights! Don’t shy away from something just because it has a level of difficulty. The better we get at navigating things, the better we will do with taking things to new levels!

Christ told us to love the Lord our God and to love others as we love ourselves. It is so important to love ourselves because we are God’s creation! Norman Vincent Peale encourages people to believe that God equips them for where He leads them. Be grateful and confident in who God made you to be and don’t give yourself too much thought. Thinking lowly of yourself isn’t humility, it is self-centeredness. He then goes on to say to focus your attention on others.

I think Christ instructs us on the two most important relationships in life. If we can learn to navigate those well, every other relationship in life will fall into place. Sometimes relationships run their course. Be willing to let go of what was in order to make room for what is ahead. True, relationships can be complicated, but I really believe we have been given the tools to make the most of them!

The Best Things Take Time

I really hope it doesn’t feel like I repeat myself over and over again – but this bears repeating: the best things take time. They take pause, thought, consideration, prayer, investigating, fine-tuning, cultivating, etc. Fresh enthusiasm can come in the form of an epiphany, but more than likely it will be a pause and attention to detail that lead you to your ah-ha moments.

Fresh enthusiasm is out there, ready to be claimed. It merely takes attentiveness and a hint of adventure to give it a chance! The best things are waiting on the other side of the ordinary. New hobbies, acquaintances, opportunities, etc. Let me challenge you to find time this summer to inject fresh enthusiasm into your life! Adventures await!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
