I Never Thought of That!

I Never Thought of That

I Never Thought of That!

I have the most amazing story a close friend related to me, and with her permission, I want to share it with you! I’ll share it in the first person because to me, that is the very best way to hear it!

“I don’t think I know everything, by any stretch of the imagination, but I was re-reminded of the fact just recently! I was doing my morning devotions when I read Jeremiah 33:3 – “Call to Me and I will answer you, and I will tell you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” The devotional had a riveting suggestion, why not ask God what great and unsearchable things He had in store for you? Ask Him about things that you don’t know and can’t even imagine!

Wow! I hadn’t even considered the verse that way! Now I’ve never thought that I know as much as God, but just think about it – can you imagine things that you’ve never imagined?! It’s kind of difficult! I mean I could tell you that I’ve imagined having a highly successful home business, a wonderful husband, adorable little babies, a picture perfect home, a delightfully organized daily routine and the list goes on, and I truly believe God has these things in my future, but what does He have planned that I’ve never thought of?! Isn’t that a delightfully interesting question?! So, I had to ask – “God, what great and unsearchable things do you have in my future?!”

And I believed that in His time He would show me great and unsearchable things and I prayed for the wisdom to see them! …and time went on. Then one day, climbing the hill back to the house, I realized suddenly that I wasn’t struggling to get up the hill like I used to. You see, due to severe scoliosis when I was younger, I’ve had spinal surgery and I walk with a bit of a limp. But somehow my walking was easier and I realized it just at the moment I was climbing the hill! I was so startled and grateful! I had never thought to ask God to help me with my limp and here He had so graciously blessed me in a way that I hadn’t even imagined! What an amazing gift!

So what could I do after that but ask Him again for another blessing that I hadn’t imagined! And once again, He blessed me! This time it was through a nutritionist. Do you know that how heavily you walk is an indication of how your thyroid functions?! Well, I’ve always had a heavy step – not on purpose, that’s just how I’ve walked. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve tried to train myself to have a lighter step, even a tiptoe, but I feel that I just have a lot of weight on my feet (and weighing less than 120 this just wasn’t the case!). Well, the nutritionist I visited spotted my heavy step as a deficiency and recommended a supplement. Do you know my step is so much lighter now?! No more do I constantly remind myself to pick my feet up high so that I don’t trip. It is incredible – so humbling and thrilling at the same time! I didn’t even know that I walked with such weight until God blessed me by letting that deficiency be addressed!

These things may or may not seem small to you, but I want you to understand the significance. I didn’t even have a clue what I was missing out on until God blessed me with healing. I remember I used to watch my family members walk around and I use to ponder how they did it so effortlessly. My thought process when walking was often “Watch your feet, where you step. Left foot, right, left…oops, dodge that twig. Don’t trip!” at a million thoughts a minute. Then if I got distracted, I often tripped or at least stumbled. It’s quite difficult to strive to be ladylike and delicate and move like an elephant! But now, thanks to God’s gracious healing, my walking is practically effortless! I’m awed by His kindness!

So where does that leave me now? Well, by now you might have noticed a pattern and be able to predict that I’ve asked God yet again, “What great and unsearchable things will you reveal to me?!” And I can’t wait to find out! To be inspired, awed, humbled, encouraged, blessed by His love.”

Isn’t that story so amazing?! It inspires me to ask Him for great and unsearchable things in my life! What about you? Is this idea new to you? Or is it something you’ve done for ages? In what ways has He shown you things you hadn’t even imagined? I’d love to hear!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
