That Changes Everything

When we look ahead of our reactive thoughts and purposefully choose our perception of things, we will better set ourselves up for success! And that changes everything! When you abandon reactive thinking it better prepares you to be more considerate of others and to not take things as personally.

Perception is how we look at things – be it life, people, circumstances, opportunities, etc. As we go about our day we must be careful with just how we perceive things. Especially as ladies! Since we are more emotional by nature, we must be more cautious to not take things quite so personally.

When we look ahead of our reactive thoughts and purposefully choose our perception of things, we will better set ourselves up for success! When you abandon reactive thinking it better prepares you to be more considerate of others and to not take things as personally.

I remember the day I realized that – that I could choose how to think about things. And I could choose something different than those around me. Now I’m not talking anything radical or edgy, but rather more kind and how I wanted to better learn to think about things.

Changing your perception is powerful! When you deliberately choose higher thoughts that changes everything! You don’t get offended or your feelings hurt as easily (unfortunately it can still happen – just work not to let it!).

It also teaches you to show grace. Realizing that we are all in this together and we all have our own unique sets of strengths and weaknesses is eye-opening. Not only do we learn to give this grace to others, but we learn to dish it out to ourselves too. Yes, we must always aim high, but we must not beat ourselves up when we fail (which is inevitable). Rather pick ourselves back up, brush off, and pursue excellence.

“My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within you, make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding; for if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; if you seek her as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; then you will discern the fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God.” – Proverbs 2:1-5

We read this passage in church today and I loved it. We must pursue, incline our hearts, request, thoroughly search, and treasure the wonderful things of the Lord. Faithfully. Repeatedly. Forever. If we will do this, then we are promised to learn more about God.

And that should be our life goal – to more deeply know our Father. He has a wonderful purpose for us and it is our duty as His children to pursue Him and His plans. When you realize – and I mean deeply, truly realize this – that changes everything. Learning to look at things the way He does, to not take things so personally, to give grace and be kind – it all comes just a bit more easily. It becomes about giving God your best – not just in word or deed, but also in thought. And that is powerful!

Ask God how you might fine tune your perception of things to better please Him. Seek His guidance and He will direct you. I hope this makes a world of difference in your life and how you think about things! Leave me a comment below – I’d love to hear from you!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
