Multiplication vs Addition

Anyone up for a quick arithmetic lesson? Today we’re covering multiplication vs addition! Fun, right?!

No, I’m kidding, we’re not covering arithmetic, but we are talking about mentalities. The multiplication mentality vs the addition mentality. This is a powerful outlook that you can easily adopt – and when you do, you can step more fully into your life!

First off, let’s talk about Addition

Addition is what could almost be called simple math. It is straightforward and predictable. You take two add it to two and you always get four. Where there is no mystery, there is a certain comfort in the level of predictability.

Now let’s apply it to a mentality. An addition mentality considers the known and registers the likely results. For instance, perhaps you might know if you get good grades in school you will be eligible for a scholarship. Or maybe if you work on a project faithfully, you know when it will be finished. Personally, I know if I spend time planning my day I am more intentional with what I need to get done.

Having an addition mentality is a good place to start. It teaches you to look at things and know what results you can most likely expect. But it’s only the foundation, the very beginning. As you develop this mentality it is vital that you take it to the next level: the multiplication mentality.

The Multiplication Mentality

This mentality or outlook might well be one of the most important in your life, and yet few people seem to have it. To be honest, I find myself limiting my expectations to the addition mentality, when in fact I really should think bigger.

So what exactly is a multiplication mentality? It comes from the idea of abundance and remarkable results. Where having an addition mentality trains you to think logically and systematically, a multiplication mentality takes you even further! It inspires growth, higher expectations, and expectant hope!

Having a multiplication mentality is vital to living an abundant, intentional and joy-filled life. You can apply this idea of prosperity and abundance to everything.

Education

If you are finishing school or college the addition mentality might say that with this level of education you can get this expected level of employment. Also, this addition mentality should factor in the tuition, student loans and living expenses. And these are all good things to consider to begin with.

But next up it is time for a multiplication mentality to kick in! This is the exciting part!! Your multiplication mentality should think as big and as remarkable as it can, and then seek to surpass those limits!

For instance, your addition mentality factors in tuition, student loans, and living expenses, while your multiplication mentality propels you light years ahead. It brainstorms jobs and other income possibilities to apply to these expenses so that instead of paying on them for the next five to fifteen years of your life, you can just pay them along and along and live debt free! Or this multiplication mentality might optionally suggest that you skip a typical college training for a more self-taught course in the same field. Thing big and think outside the box! And pray. It is the best first step in anything. Always, always take your thoughts, ideas, concerns, and requests to God.

Business

Let’s talk about work or business. The addition mentality will tell you approximately how far you can expect to go on your current salary in your particular vocation. But if you want to propel forward, think in multiples! Set the highest goals and aspirations for yourself that you can!

Don’t limit yourself to the obvious, dream about the unknown!

Where do you want to be in five years? Not where do you logically anticipate being but where do you really want to be? Promoted? Head over your own department? Owning your own business? Where?

Think big and pursue that goal until God brings it to pass or gives you a new goal.

Relationships

This one is tricky and I am certainly no expert, but I’ve found that relationships can either be fine or they can be great!

An addition mentality seems to say, I know who I know, and there is only room for so many people in my life. Now I’m not saying you can be best friends with everyone you ever meet, but I am saying that your attitude towards relationships should be one of abundance. People will come and people will go, but our attitudes and hearts toward these people can be appropriately genuine.

So much more

I obviously didn’t cover every situation and instance where you can practice having a prosperous multiplicative mentality, but I gave you a place to start. An idea of where to begin thinking bigger. Now let this mentality of prosperity and abundance take every thought and expectation of yours captive!

Don’t limit yourself to the obvious, but push past it into what God has for you. Do you know, when you limit yourself, you are limiting God? Not that we as mere humans can actually limit God, but we limit the potential of what He wants to accomplish through us! And I don’t know about you, but I want to be a remarkable asset to Him!

What are some areas that you can specifically apply a more ambitious and prosperous mindset to? I’d love it if you’d share them below!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
