Highlights of 2019

Though we have a few months to go before the end of 2019, I wanted to share some highlights that this year has held for me so far. May they inspire you to realize just what a wonderful year it has been!

A Double Fashion Show

Opportunities come and go, but this one was rather spectacular! As I’ve shared previously, my sister and I now have a boutique in town. We were contacted about participating in a fashion show at a local high school. This would be a special way to celebrate the students and also get our shop name in front of more people.

It seemed like a nice opportunity, so we agreed. A friend we knew was the one to ask us, so that made the choice more obvious! As time went on the fashion show date shifted multiple times until it finally landed on a specific day.

Ironically, it landed on the same day as another fashion show that we had been planning on since the beginning of the year. This would be our third year participating in this other fashion show and we had committed early on.

I contacted our friend at the high school and asked if, since the date had been shifted so much before, perhaps we might shift it one last time. We couldn’t. The good news was that the high school fashion show was early in the morning where as the other fashion show wasn’t until after business hours!

Our day was a bit of a blur, prepping and showing up with all the necessary items at the high school, only to finish and leave at a dead run to open the shop on time. And then again, come the afternoon to close the shop, load up and head to the venue for the second fashion show of the day.

Our day involved a lot of clothing, accessories, and coffee! But together my sister and I had a really good time! Definitely a highlight!

What about you? Did you have days that turned into way more than you anticipated only to have them turn out really well?

A New Home

Another highlight would be going with my parents to see our new home! It was freshly built and sitting on the lot, just waiting for us to get the all clear to have it delivered.

My parents had chosen the home layout, colors, cabinets, countertops and detailing. It was so fun to get to see the finished result! They chose things so well! I loved getting to see how it all came together!

Sometimes highlights might include things, but often they are made simply by doing things together. Though seeing the home was special, it wouldn’t have been nearly as special if I hadn’t enjoyed that time with them!

An Upgraded System

(Yes, this is really a highlight!) My sister and I upgraded our checkout system in our shop and it was such a milestone for us! It was like taking the step from beginner to real-business-owner.

I loved the reminder that sometimes the major steps that we see ahead of us aren’t as complex as we think. Moving forward this way in our business felt like a breakthrough! It seemed to validate our business standing and was quite exciting!

More Meaningful Relationships

Shifting from working from home to working in town six days a week has been quite the change. Yet I feel like our relationships as a family have only gotten better. Yes, I still like to squeeze in as much time with everyone as I can when I’m home (or if they pop into the store when they’re in town), but I don’t feel as if we have suffered relationship-wise. If anything, I think we have gotten more deliberate about spending time together as we can. It has been such a blessing!

Now that I’ve shared several of my highlights, what are some of yours? Highlights may be major and obvious, where others might be more subtle. Either way, you should look for them and recognize them for what they are.

And don’t stop there, consider what highlights you want to celebrate through the rest of 2019! Write them down, plan them out and figure out how to make them happen! Your best year yet is only an intentional thought and plan away!

Share your highlights below or via email. I do enjoy hearing from you all!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
