The Next Step

The Next Step

Do you know the next step you need to take? Be it in life or a project, there’s always more that lies ahead. The beauty of it is that you don’t have to have it all figured out before you start.

I read a quote earlier this week that goes along with this idea.

Be clear about your goal, but be flexible about the process of achieving it.

I need this reminder. Especially when plans change or circumstances differ from what I anticipated.

What is the Goal?

I do think having a clear goal is essential. Giving your best for God requires us to have a certain path, pursue certain things and have our eyes set on Him.

My goals will differ from yours, and that’s perfectly fine! God has given us our own strengths and calling. He has a specific role for each of us to fill.

If you’re not sure what He has for you to do, ask Him. Perhaps He’ll answer in an obvious way, or maybe He’ll take a bit of time inspiring you to lean in more closely to Him. I do believe that He wants our attention, our hearts, and He wants us to be our best. He will use whatever means necessary to refine us and draw this out.

Be faithful in seeking Him and His will for your life and He will show you the next step.

Be Flexible

Being flexible – this can be so difficult for me. I definitely want to be flexible, it can just be challenging.

And yet I find the more I surrender and submit my dreams and expectations to God, the more flexible I am able to be. This doesn’t mean I don’t make plans and have expectations, but rather, as it says in the Bible, I try to approach them with a “if this is Your will, Lord” attitude.

God has an incredible way of working things out and bringing things to pass. It fascinates and amazes me! I’m so grateful He is in charge and orchestrating my life!

Achieving Your Goals

This is my favorite part – achieving the goal! Starting new things is exciting and energizing and I do love it, but there is nothing quite like achieving a goal, realizing a dream!

I love to ask God what He has for me to do. I love to feel like I am on a mission straight from God. Not all goals necessarily feel like this to me. Yes, I do my best to do my work for God, but it doesn’t necessarily feel as if God has directed me to each goal specifically.

Some goals or dreams just seem to be directly from Him! They’re enormous and I can’t quite see how they can be achieved, and yet I feel directed by God to step into them, one step at a time. And isn’t that where faith grows, in relying in God and taking the next step.

Something Special

I haven’t always had a special relationship with God. Don’t get me wrong, I was raised well and I have known God my whole life, but I haven’t always had the relationship I have with Him now.

Perhaps it has developed as I’ve matured, perhaps different challenging circumstances have inspired me to draw closer to Him. Whatever the explanation, I’m ever so grateful and I pray that I bring glory to Him in all I do.

And let me just encourage you to pursue a deeper relationship with Him also. It will change your life!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
