Finding the Magic in Ordinary Days

Magic In Ordinary Days blog

Do you find the magic in ordinary days? The things that make you pause and marvel, catch your breath in astonishment and excitement, thrill at the wonder of it all?

Now when I say magic, I don’t really mean magic as in witchcraft or some such, but rather as in the wonder of something incredible! The realization of something extra special, a touch of God’s favor, a pick me up that renews my hope.

Ordinary Days

I look for the magic in ordinary days. I want to be sure I see it and recognize it, but I also want to be sure I create magical moments as I can so as to live a life I love! So much of life is filled with ordinary days.

Day in and day out you stick with your routine in order to get your work done and pay the bills. But what would make the days hold a little something special to you? How might you bring a bit of magic to your day?

It doesn’t have to be expensive or take a lot of time. Really consider what brings you joy, and then take a bit of time to enjoy it!

It really is that simple!

Perhaps you love hot coffee or tea – make yourself a cup and enjoy ten minutes drinking it while sitting outside or looking at your favorite magazine or book. Take a pause and let it refresh you! As you take this break, delight in how much you enjoy the little details – holding your warm mug, enjoying your drink while it’s hot, letting your book or magazine inspire you.

Maybe you aren’t a fan of hot drinks, maybe sweet iced tea or lemonade is your choice. Pour yourself a glass, pause for a moment, and enjoy it! Look at a book or magazine, write a note, send a quick thinking of you text, or even just close your eyes and soak in the momentary pause.

This simple pause will refresh and refuel you – and that in itself is how you add a bit of magic to an ordinary day!

A Bit of Magic

I’m always considering how to add a bit of magic to my days. I want to be my best self, to do my work remarkably well and to represent God in an exceptional way. This means I have no room for gloominess, discouragement or mediocrity.

I want to bring a bit of magic to my days, a bit of sparkle, a sincere enthusiasm. This is where God currently has me so I want to fill my role incredibly well! Yes, I have plans and hopes and dreams and I don’t plan to be here forever, but I want to make the most of the here and now while I can!

Life isn’t about disliking where you are and planning an escape. But rather thriving where you are while dreaming about what’s ahead!

I’m not a fan of regret (it really is just another thief of joy) and I don’t want to ever have reason to look back and think ooh, I wish I had better enjoyed that time I had when fill-in-the-blank. Rather, I want to look back and marvel at how wonderful that season was and how God really helped me make the most of it!

Life is so much what you make of it – make it magical!

Find Your Magic

So how can you add magic to your day? What fuels and refreshes you? A walk at the beach? A swim in the pool? Reorganizing your work area?

Discover what it is for you and then do it! And as you do it, delight and rejoice in it! Don’t grumble your way through it, but rather recognize it as as a process that makes your day brighter and helps you do your work better! Perspective is everything!

I hope this has inspired you to more intentionally find the magic in ordinary days!

Until Next Time!

Hope.
